     Skilled Workers are persons with suitable education, work experience, age and language abilities under one of Canada's official languages and who are selected as Permanent Residents under six selection factors which demonstrate their likelihood to become economically settled in Canada.
     The Federal Skilled Worker class is point based. Applicants are assessed under 6 factors and numerous sub factors of assessment providing for 67 points. Individuals with at least one year of continuous full-time employment experience, or the equivalent in part-time employment in one or more "open" occupations, within the 10 years preceding the date of their application and who possess the required settlement funding, may qualify for assessment.
     To qualify for admission to Canada as a Skilled Worker, applicants must meet the following conditions:
  Eliminatory conditions:
 Possess at least one year of applicable experience in one of 29 major high demand occupations OR
    Possess an approved offer of employment "Arranged Employment"; OR Legally living in Canada for a minimum of one year either as a temporary foreign worker or an international student.
      Applicants who meet one of the above eliminatory conditions will be eligible for continued processing as a skilled worker and must also meet each of the following essential selection conditions:
      Essential selection conditions:
    Possess one-year, within the previous 10 years, of suitable continuous full-time paid work experience or the equivalent in part-time continuous employment; and  The work experience must be classified within Skill Type 0 (Managerial Occupations), Skill Level A (Professional Occupations), or Skill Level B (Technical Occupations and Skilled Trades) within the meaning of the National Occupational Classification system; and Score sufficient points under the skilled worker point grid comprising of six selection factors. The current pass mark is 67 points; and Possess suitable settlement funding; and
    Undergo a successful security background and medical examination.
        Successful applicants must receive a minimum of 67 points with at least one year of experience within the past 10 years in one of the occupations listed in either Skill Type 0 or Skill Level A or B of the National Occupational Classification (NOC).
      Eligible professions for applying to migrate to Canada
Under Federal Skilled Worker class, applications are assessed for eligibility according to the criteria listed below.
      This applies to only those who applied on or after June 26, 2010. If your application was received at CIO, before June 26, 2010, it will be processed according to the rules that were in effect at that time.
    A maximum of 20,000 applications under the following 29 eligible occupations, Federal will be considered for processing in the following 12 months.
    Within this 20,000 cap, only a maximum of 1,000 applications per one eligible occupation will be considered for processing each year.
    These limits do not apply to applications with an offer of arranged employment.

     Formally considered a constitutional monarchy, Canada is governed by its own House of Commons. While the Governor-General is officially the representative of Queen Elizabeth II, in reality the Governor-General acts only on the advice of the Canadian Prime Minister. Canada's two official languages are English and French. Canada has a diverse makeup of nationalities and cultures and constitutional protection for policies that promote multiculturalism rather than a single national myth. In Quebec, cultural identity is strong, and many French-speaking commentators speak of a Quebec culture as distinguished from English-Canadian culture, however as a whole Canada is a cultural mosaic — collection of several regional, aboriginal, and ethnic subcultures. Canada encompasses six of the world's 24 time zones. From east to west, they are: Newfoundland Standard Time Zone, Atlantic Standard Time Zone, Eastern Standard Time Zone, Central Standard Time Zone, Mountain Standard Time Zone and Pacific Standard Time Zone.
     The Canadian currency system uses dollars ($) and cents (¢) similar to the US, Australia and New Zealand. Canada now has one and two-dollar coins, often called the "loonie" and the "toonie" respectively, in addition to 0.01¢, 0.05¢, 0.10¢ and 0.25¢ coins. Paper money comes in different colors and designs. The most common are $5 bills (blue), $10 bills (purple), $20 bills (green), $50 bills (red) and $100 bills (brown). Most hotels, stores and restaurants will accept US dollars, though sometimes at a lower exchange rate than at banks or airports. Large hotels will usually give you a rate similar to those at the bank. It is always a good idea to convert some of your money to Canadian currency prior to leaving home.
